Anurag Kashyap does a modern Devdas

Anurag Kashyap, one of India's most talented and promising filmmakers is all set to make his modern version of Sarat Chandra's "Devdas" and is calling it "Dev D". Anurag, popular for his writing for movies like "Satya", "Shool", "Kaun", "Yuva" "Water", has also directed movies like, the hard hitting, realistic, controversial "Black Friday", metaphorical, out of the box "No Smoking" and animated super hero "The Hanuman Returns".

Abhay Deol is potraying the modern Devdas or rather "Dev D" and newcomer Kalki will slip into the role of Chandramukhi, Paro will be played by another newcomer Mahi. This movie will potray how Devdas would react to the current issues. It is said that it was Abhay Deols idea initially to make a modern version which was later adopted and written by Mr.Kashyap. The whole movie will be ending on a positive note, not like the previous versions of it. The movie is produced by "UTV Motion Pictures" sister concern "UTV Spotboy Pictures" .
There were also rumours that the producers backed off when Anurag's "No Smoking" fell flat at the box office but now that the movie is complete and post production work is on and the the movie will be showing in theaters soon, it is to be seen how the audience react to this modern, realistic version of Devdas....Mr.Kashyap all the best...
